The ecReUse pilot plants have arrived at the East Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant. Installation work has commenced, led by the ecReUse project team in close collaboration with local partners from Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) and supported by GIBB Engineers (Pty) Ltd.

Foundations for the pilot plants have been constructed, and essential water and wastewater connections, as well as power supply lines, have been installed to integrate the new systems into the existing treatment process. The next steps will involve commissioning the plants, preparing operational procedures, and conducting staff training to ensure safe and efficient operation.

The pilot plants will serve as a practical demonstration of integrated technologies, including the membrane bioreactor, anaerobic digester, continuous sand filtration, and camera-based monitoring system, to improve wastewater treatment efficiency and support sustainable water reuse.
